Learn Traditional Pasta Making in La Cucina di Caterina
Plunge your hands into the art of fresh pasta making in the home kitchen of a renowned Italian chef.
Pasta, real pasta, doesn’t come in a box. The stuff you buy in the supermarket just doesn’t compare to making it by hand. Soft, smooth, and made to order, homemade pasta is simply amazing.
But here’s a secret most people don’t know: it’s not that hard to make it yourself. To create dreamy and delicious pasta from scratch, you just need someone to help you get the hang of it. And assuming you don’t have access to a wise, old Italian grandmother, this is the next best thing.
Over the course of our 2 1/2 hours, I’ll show you how to make your own pasta from scratch. I will go through every step in the process, from the proper kneading to my personal preferences in olive oil. We’ll focus on making three different kinds of pasta using fresh egg dough, such as tagliatelle, pappardelle and chitarre. Best of all, we’ll use both electric tools as well as our hands, so regardless of your equipment setup at home, you’ll be able to make the good stuff on your own.
We’ll then sample our handiwork, pairing the pasta we just made with several of my homemade sauces.
This night of pasta-making madness will take place in the open kitchen of my loft in Brooklyn, or as I like to call it, La Cucina di Caterina.
Transportation not included. Neither is wine, but feel free to bring your own.

Catherine de Zagon Chef, Former RestaurateurCall me crazy, but I love delicious food. I’m an Executive Chef with a specialty in Italian cuisine. For the better part of the last decade, my husband and I ran Locanda Vini e Olii, our Tuscan restaurant in Clinton Hill, Brooklyn.
We’ve always made an effort to offer authentic Italian cuisine, rooted mainly in the Tuscan tradition. I’ve been featured on the show “The Best Thing I Ever Ate” and I’ve appeared on the Food Network and the Discovery Channel.
I have always enjoyed teaching. I have held cooking demonstrations and classes for Children's Art foundations and lectured at the cooking school ICE. I aim to make learning easy and fun...not to mention delicious.
