Meet the Host
Misako “Misa” Sassa has been cooking Japanese food since she was old enough to reach the stove. Taught in her native country of Japan, she first learned to cook by watching her mother move around the kitchen at home.

Carolina TorresGreat sushi night! Awesome idea for a date...
Jessica RiddellMisako, or Misa as we called her, is a phenomenal instructor - incredibly knowledgeable, entertaining, enthusiastic, patient and had great energy:) Rolling sushi, as we each found through observing and then personally rolling three different types of rolls, can be as complicated as you wish to make it. Getting the rice right is the most important element and she spent the perfect amount of time showing us how to purchase, polish, rinse, and dress it. I feel confident that I could attempt it at home (albeit not nearly as perfect as her, given her lifetime of experience!). I am thrilled we took the class. How fun to do something so different from your ordinary 'let's reserve a table somewhere' night out. I absolutely intend to make a lesson with Misa on my list of things to do when friends and family come visit NYC. You will not be disappointed. Fun, delicious, different and worth every penny. Thanks, Misa!!
David McGillivrayMisa is both an amazing teacher and host with a wonderfully entertaining personality. I purchased the experience for my girlfriends birthday, and we had a great time. It's held at her apartment so the ambiance is really relaxed and feels authentic, more like she'd invited some friends over to help them cook rather than a formal cooking class, it was perfect. Misa teaches you how to make several different types of sushi rolls by hand, the rolls are simple enough to be able to pull off, but impressive (and delicious) enough for it to be a really fun and satisfying experience. For food lovers I'd highly recommend it!!
Christine ReedyI gave this to my boyfriend for Christmas and we had such a great time. Misako was very inviting and knowledgeable. I highly recommend this class if you love sushi and would like to make some of the basics at home. She will teach you everything from how to select a fish to the history of sushi in Japan. By the end of the class she will have you confidently rolling your own sushi.
