Sharon ShapiroI would not recommend this workshop during the winter months. Since it is conducted exclusively outdoors at the Farmer's Market, the weather overshadows the participant's opportunity to learn new techniques and understanding of their camera. I was very disappointed with this session.
Jordan PlumhoffThis tour was wonderful! I really learned a lot of the basics to help me get the most out of my DSLR camera. We covered topics such as aperture, shutter speed and ISO and how to manipulate them in different settings to get the photos that you want. Heidger was an excellent instructor and I would definitely recommend this to anyone who wants to get more familiar with digital photography.
Derek McNallyExcellent class for anyone interested in getting out of automatic mode and into manual on your camera. Mr. Marx explains everything very well and very clearly. Definitely worth it.
Patrick MauroI took the class because I'm interested in taking nighttime photos during mountaineering trips. I had extensive experience with shooting in full manual mode on my Canon 7d, but still hadn't been introduced to the considerations for low-light photography, including elements of color balance and shooting in bulb mode. Heidger was a great instructor and walked all the students through the process, offering plenty of personal tips. This was a great class. I highly recommend it. Pro tip: If you're in Manhattan and need to rent your tripod or lens, check out one of the many photo rental companies, e.g., Adorama and B&H.
CourtneyIt was a nice class, Heidger was great at explaning basic photography concepts and very open to other questions. There were only 2 of us in the class, which made it feel more like a private than a group class...certainly a positive!
Sofia AdlerI loved this class!! So helpful and not intimidating in the slightest. Such a great way to spend some time at the Union Square Farmers market -- can't wait to take another class!
ReneeEnjoyed the class and casual atmosphere. Great to learn while taking pictures, instead of from a book or classroom.
mollie mandellThank you for an excellent private tour with Heidger Marx. The two hours flew by and I came away from the experience with some very specific tips on how to get more out of my digital camera. I am just an amateur, but I left the tour feeling like I had gained concrete and clearly presented instructions on how to improve my picture taking skills. From now on, I am taking the leap and switching off the auto-mode! Looking forward to sampling some other Sidetour tours.
Bleecker WardI didn't actually go so n/a

Katrina CassHeidger is a great instructor! He's friendly, patient and helpful. I learned a lot more tips and techniques than I expected. I would definitely recommend him to a friend.
