About this Host
Uzma Sharif grew up in a world ruled by pastries and chocolates. A third-generation chef, she learned many of her skills from her grandfather, a pastry master in Pakistan. Uzma worked as the head pastry chef at Puck’s Café before opening her own chocolate studio in Pilsen.
Her chocolates are small-batch confections and include ingredients from California, Madagascar, Italy, and Australia, to name only a few. In addition to managing her Pilsen storefront, you’ll also find Uzma instructing students in the art of chocolate at Triton College.
Pat StankardThis was a great class. You learn not only how to make truffles, but also about different types of chocolate - and get to taste them - then make your own truffles, which you take home with you. I shared them with friends the next day and they raved about them.
Darrell NakagawaThis was a great experience! Uzma's charm and friendliness made it a great evening. And our chocolates were great. :)
Monica DeAngelisWhat a fantastic class! If you like chocolate, this is a must. A perfect thing to do with friends or as a couple. (I went solo and had a great time!) Learning all about chocolate, where is comes from and a simple way to make delicious, hand-rolled truffles from scratch. Uzma is a wealth of knowledge, energy and creativity. She makes takes this class to a whole new level.
Elizabeth StrainOur chocolate making class with Uzma was amazing! It was so fun, and totally laid back. She is an expert chocolatier, and her shop is so inviting! A few of us ended up buying some of her professional treats (along with our own). It was super casual, but so much fun! Great up and coming neighborhood, and just a great time overall. I would recommend this class to ANYONE! (As long as you love chocolate of course!)
Elizabeth MoskUzma provided a PHENOMENAL experience! Small group setting, very intimate, and incredibly fun. With such a small group, Uzma was able to customize to the group's liking--helping us personalize our own chocolates and pulling out treats she had made herself for us to try. She was very friendly and hands-on. I came away from the experience with a new understanding and appreciation for truffle-making and hope to try on my own soon! Overall, It was a great way to spend the evening and has drawn me to the Pilsen neightborhood since then. Everyone can enjoy Uzma's truffle-making experience!
tessa forteWe had so much fun taking this "sidetour." Uzma really tailored the class to our interests, and we made great tasting chocolates. Such a great experience!
Judy SlaterUzma was great! She answered all of our questions, was an amazing host and instructor! Her shop Chocolat is darling and she sells delicious truffles and treats like candied ginger as well.
Nicole ChristianoSO MUCH FUN!
Taylor CorstenThis was such a fun girls night thing to do- the chocolate was amazing, and Uzma was very relaxed, patient, and excited to be there with us. It was nice to learn a little bit about different types of chocolate, vanilla, and spices in addition to making our own truffles, and Uzma was very passionate about her work. I would recommend this to anyone!
